Welcome to our brand new year - So, how do you like it so far?
While 2011 was the Chinese Year of the Bunny - 2012 seems to be shaping up as the American Year of Confusion and Contusions -- a clown's parade of candidates playing "musical chairs" for the presidential election, prophesies of national doom, a collapsing economy... and then there's this big stone Mayan Calendar Doomsday thingie...
Therefore, as a public service, we present for your easy reference a handy-dandy guide, with which you can keep tabs on how close you are to your own personal Doom... or: "YOU ARE HERE!!"
Okay, so much for this month's Calendar comments - Though while I was working on this month's Pix, I had plenty of time to ruminate on our Old Year (just recently down the drain) and our whole new year, all bright an' shiny, an' ready for us to scuff up - Yep, it's time to sit back an' consider what we may have learned so far...
As for myself - apparently, not all that much... Neo-Republicans are still raving loonies - Democrats are still spineless weasels - the "Tea Party" could do us all a favor an' Dry Up! The US Economy is still spiraling down the Plug 'ole - Europe is doing even worse - and a totally pointless "War" in Iraq is supposedly terminated... (I haven't seen the box score, so anyone know who won?) All in all, things seem pretty much the same and I'm none the wiser for any of it...
Now, as per our year to come: Perhaps I'm just getting old - but another presidential race, featuring Bozos that shouldn't even be trusted to manage a 7-11, fills me with about the same less than eager anticipation as I would have for watching a cockroach race! It doesn't really matter who wins, because it's only the voters who lose!
While here on the West Coast, we can look forward to radioactive debris washing in from Japan - a unforeseen boon to Surfers, who can now surf at night by the soft gamma-ray glow... While the "Occupy Where-Ever" movement is still busy making a nuisance of themselves and leaving tax payers with the bill for cleaning up the poo... So, remind me, how does that effect the greed-mongers on Wall Street?
Speaking of which, one thing we did learn in 2011, namely: what happens when you dump billions of bux on Wall Street & Bankers to pay off all the bad debts that they welched on? Answer: It all just Vanishes and you get Nothing in return - might just as well have pounded all those billions down a rat hole!
All in all, I'm beginning to feel like perhaps a Mayan Calendar Apocalypse might not be all that bad an idea after all... Uh Huh, JQ...
As for Xmas, just recently past - You do realize, don't you, that if all that Mayan Calendar brouhaha is correct, this could have been the last Xmas ever, for most of us? Fortunately (for myself, anyway) I don't buy into any of that - or, truth to tell, I don't believe in any of this Xmas mythology either - (Santa, Saturnalia, the Birthday Boy, or Cincinnati)... But, be that as it may - on Xmas Eve, while Santa was supposedly out on his yearly delivery route and many of the rest of you were partying, or last minute present wrapping, I was sitting up, listening to "Coast to Coast" on the radio - then, when that got too silly, I switched over to Spike Milligan reading his warped war memoirs - while I colored in the last few pages of this minor Xmas Opus... Because, you see, while for much of the country, Xmas is white an' snowy - here in Los Angeles it's more greenish (or in east LA, kind of a grungy rust color)... So, in the spirit of a Green Xmas, we present Io & Callisto, those two fun-loving and enterprising Green Alien Bunnies, who seem to have gotten one of those seasonal jobs this Xmas eve...
Without further ado - just click on this link to take you to our li'l Xmas Gift story - rated "PGXS" ("XS" for Excessive Stupidity) Also, a thanx to Walt for Misc. Kibitzing and my Neighbors with the loud party, who would have made it difficult to sleep anyway... Uh Huh JQ...
